The Athboy Mills played a crucial role in the local Athboy community, providing employment opportunities and supporting the local economy. Down through the years, the Athboy Mills employed numerous workers, including millers, labourers, and support staff and in addition to this, it obtained its supplies of corn from the surrounding farmers and from Navan. From the early 1700s until its closure in the late 1990s, the prosperity of the mills had a positive impact on the surrounding area.
