Tommy Sherrock worked for many years in Andy Geraghty’s shop in O’Growney Street. Mervyn Coffey was the retired Postmaster in Athboy at this time (father of Bob and Norman). Martin Murphy worked at timber/sawmill/furniture making. (father of Joe and grandfather of Seamus).

Robert Carey was the former Postmaster in Athboy. He married Frances Lewis from Ballivor in 1893. They had no children but Frances’ niece, Edith Lewis lived with them. Edith married Mervyn Coffey (from Clonmellon) in 1920. Mervyn succeeded Robert Carey as Postmaster in Athboy. Courtesy of Peter Coffey

Mervyn was the Postmaster in Athboy. This photo was taken in Aug 1952. Edith was the niece of Frances Carey (nee Lewis), the wife of the former Postmaster, Robert Henry Carey. Edith died Oct 14th 1952, just 2 months after this photo was taken. She was aged 52 Courtesy Peter Coffey

Athboy Macra na Feirme 1973 All Ireland Light Entertainment Winners. The Athboy group won the all-Ireland light entertainment competition in 1973 and as a result were invited to represent Ireland at the European Arts Festival in Germany, The group spent seven days in Germany in Sept 73 where they competed against seventeen other European countries.
